More about the brand

Iris von Arnim is one of the German pioneers of high-quality cashmere knitwear.

As early as the beginning of the 1980s she began using cashmere in her collections, at a time when the material was hardly offered in Germany.

To this day, knitwear is not simply part of the collection but the actual speciality of the house.

The cashmere comes from Inner Mongolia and is largely processed into high-quality yarns in Italy.

For production, Iris von Arnim works with specialised workshops and family businesses, in some cases for several decades already.

Intricate knitting techniques, hand knitting, rib and cable patterns are among the brand's special skills.

A thick, heavy chunky-knit sweater needs considerably more of the precious yarn than a light fine-knit sweater.

With a piece like this you literally feel it in your hands: the weight, the density and the intricate structure.

Some models are even hand-knitted and are therefore one-of-a-kind.

Current hand-knitted models by Iris von Arnim cost, for example, around €1,100 to just under €2,000, with some cashmere models costing even more.

This sweater originally cost way over €1,000.

It doesn't cost less today because there is suddenly less cashmere in it or the workmanship has become worse.

It costs less because someone else has already paid for the luxury of buying new.
