More about the brand

BARRIE has been part of CHANEL since 2012.

BARRIE is one of the Métiers d’Art, a group of rare, specialized craft workshops preserved by Chanel.
At first glance, the price of a BARRIE cashmere sweater often €1,000 or more, may seem almost absurd; however, when you examine the individual factors involved, a clear picture emerges. It is not merely a matter of "material plus brand," but rather an entire ecosystem encompassing provenance, craftsmanship, and luxury positioning.
Cashmere is inherently one of the most expensive natural materials. BARRIE uses only the finest fibers sourced from Mongolia and China, carefully selected for their length and purity.
Only a small fraction of the goat population yields truly premium-quality fiber.
Each animal produces just a few hundred grams per year.
Climate and origin have a profound impact on quality.
BARRIE manufactures its garments in Hawick, Scotland, an historic hub for the cashmere industry.

There, each sweater undergoes:

•        approximately 40 individual production steps,

•        many of which are performed by hand,

•        and multiple rigorous quality checks.

Particularly noteworthy:

Even processes such as washing are assessed on an individual, piece-by-piece basis, a practice that is exceptionally rare in today’s industry.

This is artisanal production rather than mass-market fashion manufacturing.

The production process remains intentionally costly, localized, and craft-based.

The pricing is not optimized for cost-efficiency, but rather designed to reflect a luxury market position.

In short: the goal here is not "good value for money," but rather uncompromising excellence.
